Post Transmission question

I have a 6-speed, and my engine wouldnt start(long story). So me and a few friends tried to push start it and pop the clutch to see if it would run. My engine is being replaced cause I didnt know it was ruined at the time.

My question is, is it pretty bad on the tranny to try and push start it and pop the clutch?

Thanks.

Shouldnt be THAT bad that you would have to worry about it..

I have done it to tons of cars and never had any of their tranys fail.

No worse than dropping the clutch from around 3000 rpm, I would say. I mean, really the clutch is just doing it's job and absorbing extra energy while the engine and the rest of the drivetrain are matching speed, whether your engine is moving faster or slower. Think of it like you just went to a lower gear without reving up to mathch RMP.
