Traction Control question

I have a 2000 Z loaded but i dont have traction control. I do however have the a blank in place where the button would usually go. I noticed there are wires going to the blank piece. Why would wires be running to where the switch should be if i dont have traction control installed on my car?
If i went and bought the little button would that allow me to have traction control?

I was going to wire my manual fan switch to that location and was suprised to find wires on the back when i took the panel off.

Not sure what that meant, but does the ASR light come on when you start the car? I have never had ASR on any of my 4th Gen's but I know that when you start the car it's supposed to automatically come on (I believe). Go get the little button for it, who knows maybe it'll work?!

Oh i am sure i dont have it. And it doesnt come on when i start the car. But i am confused why there are wires running to the back of the blank spot on the dash where the button would usually be.

The wires are ran from the factory. However you do not have the traction control module in the car.

You cannot just buy a switch.

This has been argued many times over and in the end, you still wont have traction control.

The wires are in place from the factory so it's "roughed in", but like Dave said, you don't have the control box under the hood of the car that actually controls the throttle position. Also, I think that ASR cars have a controller on the ABS to apply the brakes when the traction control is kicked in. Your car probably won't have that either.

yep, the wires are there incase it is equipped
no, you can't add it without a major hassle
same reason they equip cars with wires for a 12 dis cd player in back, just for roughing in purposes as captain pete put it

I had the same question a while back... I have the wires and such but no switch..they're giving you the right info dude..it won't work.

Anyways, the 12 disc cd changer!!! what's this about? I'm wiring in a sub and amp with my monsoon factory installed HU...I noticed that plug by the left rear quarter panel speaker with wires from the HU...are these the ones you're talking about? I'm trying to figure out what they're for but NOBODY knows!! Also does anybody have the scematics for the wires coming out of the HU? I need to find the remote wire and speaker wires to splice into to run to my amp... I was thinking that plug in the back was set up for an amp, but the cd changer makes more sense! PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!

Thanks!

Wook!

Yes, that is what that wire is for. Just plug a changer on there and you are good to go.

As for your other questions, check with the guys at the Audio section. I'm sure they'll be able to help you out.
