Traction Control Q's
is the "ASR off" light lit all the time while driving, or just for the few seconds that all the lights are lit after starting car? i don't think they changed the dash light pattern for cars w/o ASR. for the Z, if you have it, it has to be above the stereo, next to the fog light switch...
yeah, that's definitely a problem. you bought your car used? maybe somebody screwed with the system trying to disable it or something. try pulling the black cover off the slot next to the fog lights, and see if there's wires back there that used to go to a switch.
when the car doesn't let you spin the tires, can you feel the accelerator pedal pushing back at your foot? that's what ASR feels like when it's active...

The low traction light on the dash is when your ABS kicks in.
Also, I think that you can either have traction control, or cruise control, not both. Cause I read about how with cruise control, there is an extension to the throttle, where another cable (the cruise control cable) is attached. If you have traction control, it says you will only have the single cable. So I guess since I have cruise, I have no traction.

I agree ASR/TCS would be a good option for driving in Rain but otherwise I would find it very annoying to have especially all the time, sure it will save tires but sometimes I just want to leave 2 black marks on the pavement.. Since my car does not have AsR, all I have to do in the rain is just feather the gas pedal and I don't have a problem..
Charlie
Would just pulling the TCS fuse hurt anything i really don't want my check engine light on but i would really like to spin the tires or do a burn out some times and it's just not happening is there any other reason besides ASR that i wouldn't be able to spin the tires i get a squeak some times and they will light up if i'm stopped up a hill but any othere time the just stick never thought i would be complaining about traction
If your car is NOT equipped with ASR/TCS, but you still see the light in the dash for it, THAT'S OK!!!
All cars are built equipped for every option, it just depends on what was ordered. My car has every option possible, except for ASR and 3.23 gears, yet in my dash is a blank "switch" where the ASR switch would be, and there is even a wired up plug for it. Still, that doesn't mean the car has, or should have, ASR.
However, I could care less about ASR unless you simply can't drive. I drove my car all last winter through snow and freezing rain and managed to keep it on the road just fine
. Also, my friend has it in his T/A, but he always turns it off every time he gets in the car because he finds it annoying

Hmm...
I never knew the ASR pushed the pedal back when you accelerated too hard, I always thought that was my cautiousness, seriously.
The ASR is pretty good in the rain, but it still can't harness the LS1's brute power. I can intentionally turn a corner quick and hit the gas moderatly hard and I'll get a nice wheel hop and chirp the tires, I can also chirp the tires in just about any gear.
I haven't driven with the ASR off except for like 2-3 times when I first got the car, but I guess it's best to turn it off at the track, so it won't hold the car back.

Since I dont drive it in bad conditions there is no need for it. And if you have drag radials like I do it really doesnt matter if its on or off since it only engages when you lose traction, that hasnt happened in a long time.
