track times

i took my 2002 z28 a4 to the track for the first time. 10k miles. it has 3.23 gears, lid, k&n, free ram air, cutout. 50lbs of stereo in the trunk. it was in phoenix so we were about 1000 ft and 90 degrees outside while the car ran hot the whole time.

my best time was 13.526 @ 104.36 with a 2.128 60'. is this a good time? i did 4 other runs and never ran slower than 13.66. i ran against a 03 neon SRT-4 which did 15.08 @ 95. i powerbraked to ~1800rpms then eased into the throttle off the line but i still had crappy 60' times. does anyone use a better a4 launching technique?

that's good. next time take out the 50 lbs of stereo equipment u goofball son of a bitch! :P

I actually think you should be running a little lower than 13.5, but that's probably because of the equipment. I dunno...do me a favor, buy me some long tube headers :P

oh yeah...about the automatic technique...I'm assuming you hold the pedal to 15-20 rpm (so u dont lose too much traction) while holding the brake. When the light goes green u drop the brake while holding the pedal down..once you go punch it tho, do baby the gas!

I don't drive automatic though, so if this is wrong, someone correct my ignorance! NOW!

OOOOF. Thanks b1tch >

Anyways, that track time was almost 2 months ago...I don't go as often maybe because its 80 miles away from me. I've had my car for 5 months (I learned how to drive stick just before I bought it) and been racing for about 3. If you look at my recent topics, I've talked about dumping clutches and power shifting. I've obviously improved.

I'm beating mach 1's with slixx to my nitto drag radials :>

That time seems about right. I pulled a 13.6 @102 a couple of days ago, it was my first time at the track. I have basically the same mods as you, minus the K&N. Same gear too. You are running faster because you have a 2002. Yeah i am sure if you take out the stero stuff then you will do better, but that was a good time.

OK..why don't you go out and prove that you've improved by running some better 1/4 times? That will quiet 'em down.

I ran a 13.57 @ 106 a month or so ago and had a catback and Lid on my 02 Z28, A4. with 2:73's. My 60 foot time was 2.2 something so I know It can get better. I also haven't raced in over 6 years. Hooking up was a little problem. BTW I also have over 50 lbs of stereo equipment in back. But now I have the millhouse box and can easily remove it. So your times sound about right, get that 60 foot time down and should be 13.3's... That is my focus now is the 60 foot times...if I ever hit 12's I'd be happy as Now the wait till warranty is over before I get headers! then the 12's are a sure thing.

i agree, a guy running 13.96 doesn't have much to back up his racing idea's. as for the car at hand, not bad. i would have been working a bit lower on stalling it up unless your running a good tire. other than that, not half bad considering the track spec's.

sigh. So frustrating... chevy qc obviously has trouble reading.

1) I never said my tips were official and professional.
2) I said this F'ing clearly, "IF I'm WRONG please CORRECT my ignorance." I didn't ask you to criticize me, moron.
3) You never said that they were wrong, so I'm assuming they were correct. Therefore, what the f*ck does my 1/4 time matter?

ok, hold what pedal to 15 to 20 rpm. pedals have an rpm? why only 15 to 20, you'd think you'd be higher than that. drop the brake while holding the pedal down (which pedal are you holding down again?) then punch it although, somehow in the process of punching it, baby the gas.....?

i meant to say don't baby the gas but i typed do instead. Did you understand me? If you did then stfu.

There's only two f*cking pedals with auto's. Therefore, if you release the brake, WOW! tHE ONLY OTHER PEDAL IS THE GAS!!

oh, and holding the brake down doesn't make your rpm's jump up...the gas pedal does, another easy one. about the 15-20 thing, I figured he'd lose traction after 20 unless he was real careful..I have problems taking off above 2300, so I figured he would too. satisfied? next time I'll include links to pictures of what I meant with detailed explanations and captions on the side. maybe even a video or two. sound good genius?

i'm glad you picked me to shoot off at since i enjoy it. now, 2300 is something without a different tc he's not going to be able to do and what's the 20, it doesn't even run at 20rpm. another thing, it's not a holding the pedal issue since the rpm your holding it at isn't always going to be the same position. more the point being, he seems to have killed the time you put down with an auto no less and he's the goofball s.o.b.?
