Talking at the track, do you?

Ice down the intake?
How about remove the air filter completely?

Just wondering what are common things that are done at the track with LS1 cars.

Just put a bag of ice on the intake manifold for however long you want.

As far as the air filter, i keep mine in. There might be some people that take theirs out, but with the FRA, i need the filter. I've seen all the sh*t that gets stuck in the filter.
As far as other things, you can drop your tire pressure a bit if you have street tires.
Have about a 1/4 tank of gas, take out your spare and jack, i also check the oil just to make sure i have enough. Clean your air filter( i just knock the big stuff outa my K&n)

My friend would usually take his out for the passes he makes then put them in for driving.
When you consider that most tracks are not full of most of the crap you find on city streets it makes some sense.
I just wasnt sure if people had tired it or if anyone has any horror stories.
As for icing the intake, I used to do it on my LT1 but wasnt sure if it was bad to do it on the LS1.. ya never know till ya ask!

Cool

A few things I do:
-Check the oil.If it's even a TINY bit low I fill it.
-Try to run the gas to to a 1/4 tank or less.
-Lower the PSI in street tires to around 24psi or so.
-Let the car cool down before the first run.
-When you get to the staging lane do a SHORT burn-out NO SMOKE.All you want to do is clean the crap off the tires.
-Without drag radials you will need to feather the throttle off the line.
-Take out the driver's floor mat or at least pull it back out from under the gas pedal.
-Slide the seat forward so that you don't have to stretch to put your foot all the way to the floor.
-When you start and get traction, floor the gas pedal ALL THE WAY and do not let up until you cross the line.
That's about all I can think of that I do.Good luck man.
Kevin

Edit: I don't take out anything from the car.I want to know what it'll do in completely stock trim.

Actually, me and some guys on LS1.com were talking about running temps, and we agreed that the LS1 likes it hot. Every one there said their best times were run back to back when they didn't let the car cool down. The LS1 is designed to run the block at 210 and the heads at 187. This is how it avoids detonation and makes more power when its warm.

However I am only talking about coolant temp. Cooling your intake would lower IATs and possibly make a little more power, although I haven't seen anyone try it.
