Question Factory stereo plays CD-R 's ?

A buddy of mines has a 2000 Trans-Am, and he says that his factory stereo plays CD-R's. I tried to do the same and it did'nt work for me. Has any of you guys tried this, and does it work for you? I don't believe it's possible.

Both My 02' SS and 02' WS6 play CD-R's just fine. I have never heard of anyone having a problem and most of my friends drive F-bodies. Hope this helps.

I guess I'll have to upgrade to a newer factory stereo. My car is a 97" model.

I would be sure to try a different brand of CD-R's before I changed the stereo. I have heard that some brands have loose tolerences and at the extremes, not all CD players can play them.

First check and make sure it is a cd R and not RW. Are you sure you burned it right does the cd play on other players?

My factory 12 disc changer plays CD-R's just fine. Only caveat I know of is having to 'close the session' on the CD-R before it was recognized.

Don't know about in-dash...

My 1995 and my 2002 both play CD-R's. In fact, most stereos will. What they will not do is play MP3's. Make sure the terminology is correct here.
I personally would only buy a cd player these days if it did play MP3 cds. You can get about 170 songs on 1 cd-r disc and are good to go for days!

I have not bought a CD since 1994 and have only used burned cds. They get a scratch and I chunk them. Why? cause they are cheap and I can always burn another!

Make your own and it will play it!
