You're right.

I just had my combo. installed Monday and the y-pipe bangs all the time, it's so annoying. This installation was done by an expert too, but I'm getting a brace made to try to stop the banging.

Re: TPS y pipe fitment?

that can be cured by installing poly motor mounts when you do the headers.

i did and my engine barely moves when put under load.

I have the TSP catted y-pipe and it fits perfect, no banging or any other noises, the people who have issues with banging need to accept the fact that they need new motor mounts! New poly motor mounts = no banging, end of story!

Question Re: TPS y pipe fitment?

How would new motor mounts prevent the y-pipe from banging my floorboard?

Are they going to change how the y-pipe sits underneath my car?

Re: TPS y pipe fitment?

when the engine is under load, it twists in place. if you watch the exhaust the driver side will lift up, kindda like how the whole car shifts when you rev it.

my Ypipe would move 1/2 to 3/4" when the car was under load on the old mounts.

now with the new mounts, it barely even moves

Re: TPS y pipe fitment?

What kind of clearance can you expect with long tube headers? I have a 2002 SS with Jet Hot Long Tubes and Y pipe. I have about 3 maybe 4 inches left of road clearance. No problem except with speed bumps. Installed by performance shop. Only driven it across town to garage because of 9 inches of Nebraska snow.

Is that type of clearance normal with the rest of you?
