Hey guys, Im looking at a 98 Z28 A4 w/ sport apperance package, auto, fully loaded except leather also in very good condition. But it has 106,000 and i was wondering how does LS1 engines run w/ high milage. BTW she is asking $8700 and she is negotiable. Also any pros and cons w/ high milage LS1's. Let me know thanks.

I think LS1's do take beatings pretty good, and our engines are good also so u shouldn't have too much problems with a 106,000 mile car. Wouldn't that still be pretty high priced though, it does have the ground effects package which is pretty costly. Try takin it to a carmax or something and seeing how much they would giver her for the car and add on a couple thousand more or something, just try to get a number to work with which is what it should cost.

Re: Is it too much?

LS1's are great motors that SHOULD last a long time. I think there was a post on here before and a couple of people were posting like 200,000 miles and still going strong I know my car makes more power and runs better at 75,000 miles than it did at 32,000 miles when I bought it! And I think $8,700 is pretty fair, but offer $8,000 and see if she takes it!

i agree. as long as the car wasnt abused very much you should be fine. the target engine life on the LS1s are 300,000 miles. you might wanna look out for other minor problems with the car though. the power window motors are pretty crappy and tend to go out pretty early. i replaced one already on my 99 at about 55,000 miles. power steering is also an issue i have heard. if it has t-tops make sure that the weather strips dont leak. that can be very frustrating to find out AFTER you have bought the car. just get a good overall check on the car and you should be alright. and is the woman you are buying it from the only owner of the car? if so i think its a pretty good find. let us know how it turns out.
