Too many miles?

I bought my Camaro on August 01', and I have already racked up 15,500 miles. I love this car, I pretty much drive it everywhere. Im somewhat worried that I am putting too much miles on it. Besides the regular tune ups, I have not done any major mechanical work on the car. Should I think about doing major tune ups on the engine? What engine work do you guys recommend doing on the car?

ALso, I have considered getting the engine steam cleaned. I installed a ram air kit on my car and I worry that pockets of moisture will travel up into my aftermarket air lid. Is it safe to steam clean the engine with cars with an air ram system?

Wink I thought I was bad...

I got my SS Convertible in May and now have 9,000 miles. But it's so much fun to drive. And I didn't buy it to park it in the garage and rub it with a diaper. Well I do the diaper thing, but I drive it a lot too. I even autocross in it and have taken it to the track twice.

Run synthetic lubricants and be sure to keep up with all the maintenance stuff and have fun.

Miles don't matter unless you bought it to keep for only a couple years. In that case all the miles are gonna hurt your resale value. But I don't plan on ever getting rid of mine. Heck! I still have the first car I ever bought (in October of 1989). A '67 GTO. That's the garage ornament. One day I'll fix all the rust and electrical problems and drive it again. But I'll never sell it. Same goes for the SS. I'd never be able to get another like it.

My $.02

That's no where near as bad as my friend, she got her '01 Cavilier during the summer of '01 and has 25k on it already.

Yeah it's a Cavilier but that's a lot of miles to be racking up for not commuting to school or work

STEAM CLEAN

With the aftermarket "wisper lid" intake systems I dont think power washing would be a problem provided you dont spray below the air box at the filter. The F.I.P.K. has a exposed filter You would have to cover that up.

The plugs on the car are said to be good to 100K I wouldn't mess w/them til about 50K.

Just rolled over into 22,000 miles today and bought mine on July 9, 2001. And to be honest I thought I would be out of my warranty by now.

actually i've read from others that the stock plugs are not gapped right and the tips fall off way before 100K.
i wasn't sure either, so i changed them at 30,000 miles.
put in ngk tr55's they don't last as long as platinum but are supposed to perform better

Bought my TA brand new in August 2001....now have 3,460 miles on it. For some reason I like to keep the miles low on it.
