Tires?? Nittos?

Ok, about to buy some tires. What is the concensus? Buy Nitto's for the rear? I want something with most importance being longevity, second would be wet/dry traction. Should I buy some Nitto's, not the 555R, but the 555??? And what size? 315 or 275 on a 9.5 inch rim. Thanks guys.

Lightbulb I have been pleased w/ the Kumho 712's.

For ~ $120.00 a tire, they are hard to beat.

Sorry - no experience w/ Nittos other than the DR's.

I managed to wear those out in the center due to overinflation - sounds like 26psi is the best pressure for street use w/ them.

As a factory SS/WS6 rim is 9" wide, no can answer about the size for a 9.5".

Good luck, and, BTW, TTT !

whats wrong with nitto 555r , its an excellent tire for traction and will last upwards of 15000 miles , and its pretty dam good in the rain. And its cheap to, by far the best all around tire for street and strip if you drive your car everyday and race weekends.

I need a GOOOD rain tire, and also I very rarely go to the track. Maybe once a month-ish. Thanks.

BFG G-Force T/As are good too. I got mine for about $105 from wal-mart. Mine were the 16" for my Z28 but i'm sure that the 17" wouldn't be much more. It was the cheapest place that i could find them. I think you can get about 30,000 miles out of them too.

Do you guys run the 555r's on all 4? Or do most of you just run them on the back and then something else up front? I really need tires for next year, and I'm trying to decide now what my best bet is going to be (whether I should buy "average" quality street tires, and then a set of DR's or E/T Streets, or should I just buy a set of Nitto's????). I found that the factory RS-A's wore out after about a year anyways (well, they completely lost all their "gripping" capabilities ) so I'd like a street tire that grips good as well, and it would be nice to just leave them on to go to the track.

So you guys are all sure on the Nitto555R's? And these will be ok in rain? It rains a lot here in FLA. I don't want to get killed around a turn on hwy at 50mph. Thanks.

I just read another thread in the Drag Racing forum about Nittos.....................there's a little more insight about driving with them in the rain. From the sounds of it, they're OK in light rain, but NOT good in heavy rain (especially at higher speeds). I guess it's just some more info to think about if you want them to be your daily-driver tires.

How about the bfg g-force KD's? I was going to get these since I never ever drive my car in the rain, it is not a daily driver either. Thankfully the winters here is socal aren't that bad.

got my Yokohama AVS ES100's now on all four..

Great tire! so far have about 100 miles on them and they were sticky from the 3rd stop light.. the first two were kinda slick ...but much stickier than a Kumho 712 and thats out of the box!

I paid a whooping total of 510.90 for the four tires and installan d balance...

not bad at 128 a tire installed!
