tire size

what is the largest width wheel you can put on the 99 stock camaro ss rims. I have 275s now and was wondering if 285 or higher would work?? thanks.

Yes.

Any bigger then 275 on the SS rims doesn't look quite right and has no benefit other then the tires costing more. The biggest I have seen on a SS rim is 315s.

On my stock SS rims I have 275 35 17 Nitto 555R. They look fine..
No point of paying more money when your rim setup dont look good on your car.

I have 245-50-ZR16 on my stock wheels on my '98Z28 and to me they look kinda small. I also am wanting to go with something wider and bigger but I am not sure what size tire the stock wheels can mount. Eventually I am going to purchase 17x9.5 American Racing S202 Megnetallic 2-piece painted wheels. I liked the wheels that are mounted on the Intimidator SS and think it would look really sharp on my '98 Z28. Could someone tell me what size and width tire I sould go with on stock rims? Thanks.

StealthZ28 if you go with a 17 inch rim and the stock size for a SS tire 275x40x17. It will be the same overall diameter as the 245x50x16. But they will have about a 1 inch wider footprint. In other words in my opinion unless you autoX there is no real advantage other then wheel style change switching to a 17 inch rim

So 275-40-17 tires will fit my stock rims? I will eventually purchase 17x9.5 rims in the future. I am going for style. Plans for performace mods are happening right now. A GMMG cat-back is being installed right now, SLP lid, SLP headers by this Fall. And my Xenon ground effects are going to be re-painted this Spring. But like I said, my stock tires and rims just look kinda small. And I want to get wider 17" tires with the rims I mentioned before. Thanks.
