For those who have installed a FAST intake....???'s

For any of you that have installed a FAST intake, I have a few questions for you.

I had to do the LS6 style coolant pipe mod w/ this intake. When I set the new intake down on the motor, the coolant pipe in the front is in the way, and hits the intake. WHY IN THE H*** is that?

I have never heard of anyone else having this problem.

I have bent the hose a little to make it fit somewhat better, but it still bothers me knowing this pipe and intake are not fitting up the way they should.

Ok, next. The intake is kinda wobbly on the block, like it isn't fitting tightly around the seals. NO I have not put in the bolts or hooked things back up, I just slid it in there for fitment purposes. Is it the knock sensor wires causing this much trouble? Will that go away when I tighten it down?

I would assume this would happen with the LS6 intake as well, since it is flat on the bottom. Do I need to take the wire covers off the wires? I didn't want to mess w/ that. Although I have removed all the tape they had on them, and the green clips. I found the info at ls1howto.com btw.

I hope some can offer some information about these fitment issues.

Also, w/ the throttle body hooked up to the intake, FAST throttle body, when I open the throttle all the way, it actually hits the side of the intake, on the outside.

Honestly, I expected MUCH MORE from FAST. I hope the performance gains make up for the lack of workmanship

did you replace all the valley cover bolts with the low profile ones with that came with the FAST intake? the intake will not fit on with the factory valley cover bolts...you will just crack the intake if you try to bolt it down. as long as the clips for the knock sensors wires are removed and the valley cover bolts are replaced, then it should seat properly

i had to bend my front pipe a little bit to gain clearance too

Well I feel like an idiot. It doesn't mention anything in the directions about the other bolts. But now I see. I will change all that out tomorrow. Can I reuse the stock 10 intake bolts? Or do I have to use the ones they sent w/ the kit? I seen some other misc. bolts that came w/ the kit, but there is no specifications for them in my instructions.

I was going to try to reuse the stockers if possible.

Thanks for giving this reply. Glad to know I am not the only one who had to rebend the tube.

Any other helpful tips, please let me know

What he said and get the instructions out and read them completely thru. They address all of this.

About the intake bolts, I had to use a few stock bolts because the didn't come with enough. I don't know if that happens to everyone but it did to me.

Also, it's best to tighten the intake bolts down with a torque wrench. Too loose and it'll leak, too tight and it'll crack. Just thought I would mention that.
