for those with super chargers....

I have been reading up on SC's because I have done everything to my car that has to do with suspension, headers, rear, underneath, everything...up ubtill where I either decide on cam or SC. But I am thinking SC because it's easier to take off and I will more than likely pass emmisions.....and better gas mileage on the highways......but, I have been reading about belt slippage, the belt not being able to hold on when hauling *** because it either, tears, melts, cracks....something goes wrong. What other info is related to installing a SC, and if so....what do people do in this situation....

I've got a SC on a 92 z with a 350 and so far have not had any problems (3 years). My fuel econ. is 20 mpg highway. The nice thing is it doesn't affect driveability if it's set up properly and isn't really in use until you start winding the engine out. As far as belt problems, you shouldn't have any if you stick with the manufacturers set-up. A friend of mine has one on a Mustang and didn't run into problems i.e. belt slippage until he really modified it and started pushing 17 psi of boost. If you get an "out of the box" kit you shouldn't have any problems and will probably be happy with the performance. The guy with the Mustang uses his as a daily driver and runs high 10's. He broke his crank on a 1/4 mile pass at the strip. Keep it reasonable and it should't affect anything negatively. Hope this helps.

If you do it correctly, you wont have issues with belt slippage. This is only a problem when you're trying to overspin the blower or do not have it properly tensioned.

As you mentioned, w/ a S/C, its only on when you want it to be on. A cam is sucking more fuel and loping all the time.
