Those with SLP long tube headers and no cats

I don't know if its just me, I have no cats on my long tube headers but I noticed there is a lot of carbon build up where the off road pipes are installed. They are clamped on and not welded. Should they have been welded? Do they need to be reinstalled? Anyone can shed some lite on why my headers are leaking I would appreciate it. Thanks

when my cars engine is still cold i can smell the exhaust through the gear lever leather. once all the metal has heated it seams to seal. I have not gone under the car yet to check it out though

Is the build up on the outside? If so yu might have a small leak, you can have them welded, but if you wanted to take them off you would have to cut them.

the leak is on the outside through the clamps. At one point they were sealed, so i was trying to figure out when they start leaking, and so far on the dyno they leak between 2nd and 4th gear every time i'm in the mid 2-3rpm's. During most of the power curve....... It's a real small ammount, but there is so much carbon build up....i'm wondering if its supposed to be so damn black........

Most of 'em do leak including mine.

The fit from the collector to the off road is not the greatest.

When any car develops an exhaust leak, the black residue is always there.
