Hello guys, I have been wanting an ls1 car for a while, of one of my friends has one, I heard about. I went to high school with him.

2000 Z28 leather blah blah t-tops,6 speed. 58,000

1. He has been running open y-pipe for last 6 months can/does that hurt anything ,I remember running open headers can hurt your valves maybe?

2. This part I think its mostly BS (he used to lie a lot about stupdid stuff), but he says he has drove the car hard, but his uncles cousin blah blah u know the store, anyway he has put a ls6 top end on it with ls6 PCM out of a wrecked vette.
a. How would I tell if this 2000 has the ls6 intake?\
b. He says he will give me the old ls1 heads etc etc if I buy the car.
c. He used to be a BMW mechanic like 5 years and said he had one of the chevy guys he knew help put the ls6 top end in the car and he has the documentation and the pictures of the swap.
d. Even if this is all BS, I know I can get this car for a sweet deal so I think a ls1 car with this milage etc is worth what he is asking on it.

He used to have a 1997 Z and is pretty nice, and I think I can make him go cheaper on it, he is including some other stuff too. Pro 5.0 shifter etc.

LS6 intake will have NO EGR going into it.

 

exactly....look for the egr right behind the TB

as for the heads...well i guess if he gives you some stock ls1 heads there is a good chance the ones in it are ls6.

did he change the cam too? cause that should be noticable in the sound of the engine

 

I know on the lt1 the EGR is in the windshiled, so on a ls1 the EGR is behind the TB? I think I saw also where if your heads have 243 in them there the ls6 heads. He said he changed everything besides the block or bottom in, so I assume that means the cam. I have not heard a lot of ls1's so will it "lope" more etc. Hopefully i'm going by today to test drive look at.



Techinal questions on buying, he just wants pay off for this

CAn't I just take over his payments and he sign the loan over to me somehow?

I was going to get a loan for it and give him the money but he don't have the title so I figured taking over payments might be easier. I really want this car.

dude, i think you are talking about the ECM (i blieve that stands for Electronic/Engine Computer Module or something) that is by the windshield. EGR, i beleive is what reads the amount of are going into the intake and sends a signal to the ECM/PCM to control the how the engien runs. If he says he has pick make him show you. then take it to a performance shop and a dealership. check it out. he is going to want to charge you more if there is ls6. make sure the ls6 swap was done or your going to get riped of...obviously. He either did smartbuy or lease this vehical. that is why he does not have the title, most likely. You will have to both go into the dealership that sold/leased the car to him and find out the total due and term end. it may be more than you think. there could be a baloon payment at the end and you could get stuck with it. Your other option is to have a third party lender like a bank laon the full amount to you in an auto loan. this involves the bank buying the cars and giving you payments to purchase it from them...basically. and when you finish paying you get the title. My advice is to take over payments if the total payout is reasonable, or get a bank to do it, and make sure this is the car you are going to keep. at 58,000 miles by the time you pay it off it will be at 100000 miles which i am sure you will be alittle hard on it, so you will have to get a new one or rebuild.

LT1 the EGR is on the back of the engine and its almost directly under the windshield on the lt1 cars.

Yea, for the price though if its a stock ls1 it would be a good deal. I'm goign to check and make sure there is no other liens on the title and talk with the peaple he has it fianced though to see how much he owes(if its cheap as he says) thanks guys


So how much more HP would ls6 heads,ls6 computer,ls6 cam etc add to it?

 

here is the hole for the EGR tube in the manifold (i have it blocked off)...the silver thing is the TB

stock ls1 block, ls6 heads, cam and intake, with a tune should get you probably 375 to the wheels...maybe a little more.

wait...is he still running manifolds? what other bolt ons?
that hp could be less depending on the rest of the setup

 

He got mainfolds and open Y pipe, he had a 3 inch dynomax on it, but he somehow messed up his muffler and left it off, so He is giving me the 3inch catback minus muffler with it. He does have o2 sim's on this car too.

But I want to take my borla off of my 1994 lt1 car and put it on. With pacesetters.


So if there is no EGR there is ls6 or will be be plugged similar to your car in the pictures. I just want to know if this is really a ls6 upgrade, he said he got it off of a wrecked z06(he worked at bmw and his wifes uncle is a body man, i'm pretty sure that much is true about it) So what other signs will it be a ls6, I should be able to tell it pulls real good if I drive it compared to my bolt on lt1 car.

 

If it is a true LS6 intake then there will be no hole there. There will be no reason to plug it.
