Thermostat ?

what is the real idea behind putting a 160* thermo in a ls1, i really am just wounderign is it bc the fan will be on more and it will keep the car running cooler, is that the logic, and anywho any good reccomondations on a good thermo?

It allows the coolant to flow at a lower temp. Fans come on at a given temp. You have to adjust this via programming.

You can easily modify your stock Tstat to open earlier. Do a search there was a thread on this not long ago.

i will sell you my 180* hypertech thermo for $30 shipped. i only used if for a week then switched to a 160* b/c in texas you need it to run as cool as possible. perfect condition. dont forget though your fans wont come on sooner unless you program them too so it will only run cooler at highway speeds. i have a diablo tuner so i can change mine whenever i want.

... or get a fan switch to control them yourself once you've got a lower temp thermostat
