Post Is there a REV limiter in neutral?

Hey - I've showed off my car plenty by revving it... and occasionally pretty high, sometimes it scares the people I show it off to...

Is there a rev limiter in neutral (6-speed) - so I dont rev it too high and hurt the engine?

How about NOT free revving in N to 6000rpm.

high rpm free revving is a major cause of spinning bearings and various other things..

it doesnt happen all the time, but it does happen

BAD BAD BAD BAD!

I agree with PhantomTA.

This is VERY bad for the motor with no load on it!

Is there a rev limiter in neutral?? As far as I know - YES. I haven't verified it, because it's something that I don't really care to know, but I did rev my old Sunfire to redline in neutral once, and its rev limiter kicked in (so IMO, if the car's got a rev limiter for while you're driving, it will also be there when you're parked, because it's primarily based on engine RPM, not speed, so 0mph or 160mph, it doesn't care --- stop revving!!! )

HTH.
