th350 behind ls1?or early 4l60e?

Looking for information on putting a th350 or a early (lt1 ) 4l60e behind an ls1.

Somebody must make an adapter to do it? anybody know who? If a 4l60e was used from an lt1 then could / would the ls1 pcm control the trans ? wiring the same?

Or and easy way to get the th350 behind it.....this is mostly a bracket car.....

there are a lot of folks who have put TH350's or TH400's in LS1 powered F-bodies. you may want to try asking in advanced tech and or some of the other message boards also. I am going to put a TH400 in my project but haven't gotten quite that far yet, so have no first hand experience with doing it. the trans should bolt up to the block no problem but the in put shaft is where you need to check length and spline count to make sure it will fit into your crank shaft correctly. you will probably have to change your torque arm, but maybe not. sorry I know it isn't much help but it is a start.

Demon is right. A guy in my club with a Procharged WS6 has a TH400 in his car. I don't know his user name, but he posts in the Forced Induction section sometimes.

Uh Sorry To Say this Demon SS but Last time I installed a TH400 into any car/truck, You have to make sure the Torque Converter Bolts up the Flex Plate... That will be the biggest challenge besides if the Tranny will bolt up the LS1 block... Besides the obvious of having a new Driveline made up since the TH400 tranny is shorter, or you just change the Yolk and you can probably get away w/ a longer yolk for the TH400 rather then having a completely new Driveline made... For example swapping from a Th400 to a 700r4/4L60E, usually you have to have your driveline shortened....

Now I would not see a reason why an older 4L60E would not be a problem but again I could be wrong but they are basically the same tranny and should be able to run w/ either PCM...

Its not that bad of a swap to do. I bought a complete package from Madman & Co. Racing in Houston. If you go with a TH350 make sure its upgraded for a heavier car. I decided to just go with the stronger tranny.

$2600 for the package. (www.madmanandcoracing.com)
TH400 Manual ValveBody/Transbrake Race Prepped Tranny
28K GVW Tranny Cooler with lines
4000 Stall Converter (Anti Balloning plate for nitrous)
Madman Custom Dipstick
Ultra Bell-Housing (NHRA Legal)
HD Aluminium Driveshaft (Nitrous Ready)

I added:
Cheetah SCS Shifter $290 (www.jegs.com)
Autometer Phantom Tranny Temp Gauge $35 (www.jegs.com)
Spal 9" $77 (www.spal-usa.com)
GM 168 tooth Flywheel $115 --local chevy dealership.

This is a 1000+ horsepower tranny. I have about $3200 invested with ARP bolts and studs added into the the mix.

I did not think it would be that tough of a swap, but also didn't you have to move your tranny crossmember forward ? For an Auto Tranny, you cannot go wrong with a TH400 or if you can afford it, 4L80E tranny either... My only complaint would be not to put a TH400 in a daily driver especially if you are doing a lot of freeway driving since your gas mileage is going to drop... But for a Drag Car, TH400's is one Bullet Proof Auto but they can blow up as well...

My main question is since some people are talking about swapping out the 4L60E Tranny to a TH400, I am trying to find out how hard is it going to be to retrofit a 68 C10 Truck w/ a T56 while using the Bell Housing, Hydraulic Clutch Assy. instead of using an Adapter and running the Clutch Linkage ?
