not sure but the first thing that comes to mind is detonation, sometimes called pre-ignition, spark knock, pinging, etc, this is a condition where the fuel air mixture, explodes too soon in the combustion chamber before the piston reaces top dead center, versus the "controlled burn" the is proper and intended, this could result from a few conditions. The car may be running lean, or too much initial timing , but the most common culprit is inferior, or LOW-OCTANE fuels, the little spot on the dash that says PREMIUM FUEL ONLY, yeah, they mean it, these cars are designed and tuned to run a minimum or 92 octane, and you cannot skimp, if this condition is not corrected, it will eventually cause piston/ring failure ESPECIALLY with the less than adequate pistons the the general stuffs in these engines. run your car until it is on E (low fuel) then fill it up with premium and add some O2 safe octane booster, and see if this cures the problem

throw in some seafoam into the tank you have before you fill with premium, make sure everything is good and cleaned out. pick it up at local auto parts store for about 5 bucks.
