TC lock up problems

well heres my problem... sometimes when goin 70 down the Hwy. my TC locks up just fine, then at other times i have to slightly push down the throttle to get it to lock but when i let off it will unlock again. other times it wont lock no matter what i do. it just wont lock at ALL. i talked to my tranny guy and he said that if i swap out the accumulator piston( sp? ) it might help the problem, i also have an early shift problem at WOT in drive, it shifts around 4,500. sorry for the lengthy post. BTW i have a 93 z28 ith a 700R4, and 2000 stall. thanx in advance.

Your accumulators are only used to cushion upshifts and downshifts, they don't influence tcc or shift timing. Your early shift times could be a t.v. cable adjustment. I think your trans. uses a 4th gear sw. to tell the ecm when to lock the tcc, have this checked with a scanner. Also check the brake switch status, if it is sticking it will inhibit tcc. I don't know what pushing the throttle down has to do with it locking and unlocking unless your system pressure is too low to trip the 4th gear switch, which could be t.v. cable. I have a 92 with the same trans. and a t.v. cable adj. corrected my early upshift. Your pressure should be 80 psi at idle. This all changed when G.M. went electronic in 94. Good luck.
