TB bypass on a LS1?

on my old lt1 you could do a TB bypass mod that freedup some hp and was simple to do, is this mod applicable on a LS1? i looked at it and there seems to be a coolant hose running to it, i saw a thread the other day where a guy was talking about it and he had a ls1, so i was wondering, thanks

Yep works the same as for the LT1. Helps keep the intake charge a little cooler.

I just did it tonight.. fairly easy, extremely straightforward. I got the kit from BMR for like 16$

Not really. Even at idle the engine pulls in so much air at a high enough velocity that the air would get barely heated if any at all.

It is a free mod and I did it, but you'll never notice it.

I bypassed the whole coupler thing and just ran an entirely new hose.. 5/8ths I think it was.. I got like 3 feet, but routed it in a cool way and cut off the rest. Works well. And yeah, it may not help at all, but it does keep the TB COOL, which is in no way a bad thing.

THat's actually the one free mod that made the most power.

GMHTP gained 10rwhp/7rwtq from all free mods.

they never specified which mods gave what hp, they just did them all and dynoed it. i'm sure the bypass alone would yield at most like 1 hp. porting the tb and doing the fra mod should give the most.

Want to take it a step further? I took my windshield wiper sprayer hose lose and connected it to the TB port. On the other side I ran an exit hose back to the windhield washer reservoir to recapture the water. I also disconnected the sprayer switch on the stalk and had a toggle installed inside the car.
I would fill it up with ice and while sitting in the staging lanes at the track just flip the switch and let it run a few minutes. Helps cool the TB temps down good. Again, still not much of a drastic change, but it never hurts to keep your cool

Of course. This mod is only if your a die hard trackie and trying to keep your cool in mid July. I would never do something like this to just ride around town with.

Before doing this mod I put my hand on the TB and had to remove it quickly "ouchy"
After the mod with ice water running through it you could keep your hand on it and it actually felt cool.
Its not going to be a drastic change, but like we say...Every little bit helps.

Don't get him wrong. He's not spraying water into the intake. It's going through the same passages the coolant went through. It just has the opposite effect in comparison to the hot coolant. Cool idea. Don't know how effective it really is. But never the less, a cool idea.
