Tapping/clicking noise on cold idle

I know our cars are notorious for Piston slap and are prone to bent pushrods if over revved. Anyway, since I bought the car, it makes a fairly loud tapping or clicking noise at idle. I figure it is just the piston slap and want to make sure. The colder the weather gets here (very cold right now), the louder it is at startup. The car still idles smooth and doesn't have any misfires and I feel no loss of power. The clicking goes away after I drive it for a while. Any ideas?

Piston slap,
My 2002 has done it since I picked it up at the dealer with 2 or 3 miles. Now has 3600 and the same issue. But doesn't seem to affect the cars performance, my A4 dynoed 305 rwhp with just a catback.
Regards,

mine does it too, but only when it is "frost on the windows" cold. It usually goes away before I hit the street, if not its gone half way down my street.

Thanks for the help. What would the symptoms of bent pushrods be? Power loss?
