T/A headlight problem....

This is for a friend:

She has a 99 T/A and when the headlights are turned on, they go up fine, but when they are turned off they go down fine, and then after they are fully down the passanger side headlight makes a loud noise that I think is the motor trying to take the headlight down after it is fully down.

I have watched the motor with the hood up, and it shakes very badly when it is making the noise.....

Hey whats up, i just had the same problem with my drivers side headlight last week and me and a neighbor fixed it, there is a good site and good video that take you step by step, all you have to really do is get the motor out and spin it to the non stripped side. your problem is most likely the plastic gear is stripped causing the annoying noise for a couple seconds, try this link to download the video

if that doesnt work, just go here and read the page

What he said is correct, but your friend will probably have to buy the gear to get it to work (and not just do the "free headlight fix"). I replaced both of mine about 3 months ago and they are working perfect.

Don't waste your money on new plastic gears or motors, been there done that. I installed brass gears in both my cars and have never had a problem since. New motors will strip the gear out again guaranteed and your back at square one. Look on Ebay and type in pontiac headlight motor, you will find the gears there for $43.00 with instructions, I promise you this will end all your problems. Good luck!

Is another excellent option. uses factory dampering system on the gear also. prob less wear and tear over time. Best of luck
