Symptoms of Warped Rotors

I just got my car today, finally, and was driving it around. I noticed that when braking, it kinda jerks. At low speeds while braking it's like the car is jerking back and forth as it slows down. During high speed braking it does the same thing but it's so fast it's like the car is vibrating really badly.

To me, this means I have warped rotors, but, sometimes I don't notice the "jerking" even when I try to.... Anyways, The car is under an extended warantee so should I get them replaced, or get some slotted or drilled rotors from somewhere else?

Thanks a lot guys!

Yep that's warped rotors. You can:

1) Have them machined(known as turning the rotors)

2) Replace them like you said

Does your extended warranty require that you pay a deductible?

If so, then just replace them and save yourself money and time for going back to the dealership.

If your warranty doesn't require a deductible, then I would just have them machined.

Yep. If the steering wheel vibrates, then you also have warped rotors.

Definetely sounds like warped rotors. Or unevenly worn pads.

Regardless what you decide to do (have the rotors turned or replaced), you should also put in new pads. That is the only way you can be absolutely sure there would be no problems with vibration.

Good rotors + unevenly worn pads (due to previously warped rotors) = vibration during braking.

Later!
