supercharger vs single turbo kit

any ideas on whats easier to maintain and produces more hp to a relatively stock ls1. im choosing between ls1motorsports listed single turbo kit or procharger twin intercooled supercharger. also considering vortec w/aftercooler. want to get your opinions on which is worth it or the best.

generally speaking a turbo and supercharger producing the same boost through intercoolers will produce about the same hp...the turbo usually will win by a few hp...tq is where the turbo usually kills a sc by 30% sometimes...besides hp is just a calulation of tq so thats the # you wanna look for anywayz... turbos generally are harder to install and harder to maintain but thats just a generalization and the newer kits get better and better.

will you have more lag with the turbo? i would assume so, but think its best to ask..

a turbo will not only give you more hp and tq (assuming proper sizing and all else equal) but it will give you much more power under the curve which is what counts. peak numbers are nice, but they are just that, peaky.

easier to maintain? thats not so easy to answer...it really depends. if youre constantly breaking belts with a s/c, a turbo looks better. but not everyone breaks belts all the time. thats a tough call. i have been generally trouble free with my turbo thus far. a turbo is harder to install...thats just a price you pay.

some people may experience some lag, but if any it will not be much on a torquey V8. i have zero lag...i see boost right off of idle. as far as from a roll, the instant the trans downshifts, i see boost, often times full boost right away. i may be biased, but go turbo.

youll see lag with a turbo, yes but like phycho said...when your talking about a v8 with a lot of low end tq anywayz it wont be too bad and in the end many say its better on the drivetrain...centrifugal superchargers experience near lag conditions depending on the amount of boost produces...for instance my powerdyne on my truck produced 1psi per 1000rpms or so...the first 2psi you barely feel but once it hit 3 grand it was like a new ride all together...and if the turbo is sized correctly you should have very little lag on the street...if its a track only car that your looking for boost boost and more boost thats efficient youll probably experience bad driveablility around town but after like 3k rpms have a ton of boost waiting for you.

turbo.....thats what id go with, superchargers are too much stress all the time...turbos put stress only througha certain rpm range...id say a turbo is your best bet....someone correct me if im wrong though.
