supercharge or lotsa bolt ons and 410 gears?

ok guys heres the question

i have around 3-3500$ to spend in about a month and i want to bump up my 99 ws6's power, but i want to do it as safe as possible; i dont want to buy a whole new rear any time soon.

should i get a supercharger w/ low boost(powerdyne-6lbs for around 3200?) or should i go with all the bolt ons i can get for the money(gran. maf- gears-hpp3-bored out tb-lid-etc.i really dont want to get into the head and cam yet .

currently i have slp longtubes and loudmouth.-oh yeah its an m6

ok for 3200 bucks to spend on that i would invest in the suspension before anything..

SFC's
LCA's
Torque Arm
Panahrd rod/bar
Better shocks...Koni reds (since you have the money ...)

WITHOUT any power mods youll be able to pull his *** out of the whole so bad he wont ever catch you...probly 120 or so hell go by..

with those above "Nessesary" some 4.10 gears
lid, filter..W/E else you can think of...youll whoop him down the block and back

they only trap at 109 110....fastER LS1 cars trap at 106 maybe a 107 im sure some faster then that...

Stock for Stock it CAN come down to a drivers race...usually the cobra will pull slightly....hell a set of sticky tires would probly get the LS1 car a good enough jump to win the race

With all the money left over id get a nitrous kit and call it a day...

If I do decide to go with the charger, do you think it would be damaging if i went with a non-aftercooled one(cheaper) if I was only runnin 6 lbs of boost.

I am gonna do the suspension shorly after i add some HP but i wanna make some extra horses first.
Most of the racing i get to do around here is usually "from a roll". If and when i do decide to supercharge it, do i have to worry about a lot of other things i am going to buy with the supercharger that dont come in a kit or can i pretty much but the kit for 3200 or whatever put it on and be ready to go. I guess i would have to find a tuner in my area?

yeah your gonna see the life expectancy of alot of your parts cut down significantly and alot of ppl say expect a rebuild much sooner with FI like a S/C on a pretty much stock engine..

anyways take your car our and really DRIVE it around little.. id love to through down another 100hp/100tq but my stock f-bodies suspension sucks hardcore.. i wouldnt be able to live with that crap. and think of how much brand new hp would get wasted as its absorbed into your frame because your stock parts can tranfer it all to the ground.

get the bolt-ons done first.. im not sure of the longevity of the engine, but i know you will see a HUGE differance in performance.

If you don't want to replace the rearend don't go power crazy. A S/C will give you far more than the rear can handle. Full bolt ons with heads and cam will do the same thing to the rear assuming you get some traction. I made it a good 6 months and 30+ passes on my street tires before the stock rear w/4.10's broke. I had saved up about $3500 planning on big power too but decided to upgrade the rear before more power because I wanted something reliable. And don't forget the clutch. If its stock it will not hold up. Having 400+rwhp doesn't do you much good if you have driveline parts that can't handle 350rwhp. I'd say upgrade the suspension and drivetrain before the power. Don't forget good tires too.

You can forget most of the above if you only want to race on the dyno .

patriot LS6 heads 1800
cam 400
Pacesetter LT's & y 500
Lid 100
LS1 edit

thats about 3 grand right there but you should be pushing 380-410 at the wheels depending on the cam you go with now im not saying your rear will handle it but its there...if you go the supercharger route id stay away from powerdyne but thats me cuz i owned one on my truck and found out its limitations and quality, but do what you want...if you go with a powerdyne just remember you wont hear a thing and youll be fast with a cam and heads everyone will know your fast personally I'd like women and childen to duck and hide when im coming down the street and know dont f&*# with me.

any type of significant increase in HP means a slow death for your rear.if you want serious power and no reliability problems just go with some boltons and save for a 12 bolt.my rear is on its way out again and its pissing me off.

I did heads/cam/headers on my 94' Z.

I just bought a 2000 SS in the summer. Just ordered SLP headers and a D-1SC (and a few other mods). My car is 100% stock. Just getting it all together for a spring install.

You can't get the hp increase in a heads and cam package that you can get with NOS or a supercharger (and retain good drivability).

Keep looking in the for sales section on a few boards. You can pick up a system new from someone that didn't get a chance to put it on their car for considerably less. Just be patient and things will pop up.

My two cents..the subframes are a good idea when you make big power. The rest of the suspension like control arms, panhard all that didn't do much at all..you won't hook up..best mod with any kind of power adder is drag radials..nittos minimum or bfg drags or maybe new et street drag radials. Will the rear end survive..hard to say..buddy is running nos on his lt1 and putting down around 450 to 500 engine and so far its ok with et streets but living on borrowed time.I doubt you will do better than about a 2.20 60ft on street tires..but then again if the cobra guy is on stock tires then he won't do that great either.
Blowers work great if you don't get greedy..buddies ati blown lt1 lasted a couple of weeks at 8 psi.Ls1 uses pretty crappy pistions also.I would probably tear the engine out if you were going blower or be prepared to at least.Heads cam work too so its whatever you want. And spray also works good.Course if he has a brain he can get way more power from his cobra too with some cheap and simple mods..its hard to beat a new cobra since its already got forged pistons and stuff. But here their rear ends can break also at 500 or so hp..
I know the sig rule but will post my sig since we are talking about mods..
