Increased internals strength, increased horsepower, increased torque.

That cam is very small for a stock 346, let alone a stroker motor.

what would be the minimal size cam you would go with for a stroker? i was considering going with a 383 or 402 down the road.

I'd say a 230+ cam would be minimal in a stroker. You could undercam it to death, but why? What kind of heads do you have? Valve size? The benefits of a stroker are more torque, more cubes, more strength and more potential.

i was wondering cause i dont want to have to buy another set of heads or cam. if i dont meet the criteria, i will scrap that idea.

Re: stroker benefits?

stage II heads for 383, stage III for 396+

Big cam. Upping the cubes tends to tame cams.

You'll get crazy TQ numbers out of a stroker, If built right. But, you can loose the higher tach. Benifits?? = WHEELSTANDS!!

well depending on your heads you should be fine...least for a reasonable amount of power. if they are stage 1s or mild 2s...don't expect 500hp.

i've known guys running 236/242 cams with .600" lift saying they are to tame in a 383.
depends on your ideas of streetable.

you could always go with a smaller stroker. i think on the LS1 if you don't bore the cylinders out you end up with something like 377. you'll have the torque of the longer stroke, little more displacement, better internals (depending on what you buy) but won't have to machine the block much.
