strange new sounds from the trany... help!!

in my last post i was asking about the shift stops on a b&m shifter. well i got the shifter installed and didnt use the stops. but now i get all kinds of sounds from what seems like the trany. its a high pitch sound along with a grinding sound. it even has the sounds when its in nutrle "it gets louder when i rev it ". the install went fine, and the shifter feels good. what the heck could this be i think im guna reinstall the stock shifter and see if its still got the sound.

Perhaps you removed some sound dampening or insulation when you did the install... Just a thought..

I have the same exact noise on my after my B&M install, it is just because u ripped off the "factory" insulation and no amount of ATV sealant or anything u do will get it go back to being as quite as the factory seal. Dont worry about anything it is perfectly normal! Just turn the radio up

ok so i took the b&m out and reinstalled the stock one. took it around the block and no sound. so then i reinstall the b&m "test fit.. no RTV no console just the rubber boot over the top." and there was no sound. so i took the shifter out hit it with the RTV and reinstalled every thing. took it aroud the block and the frekin sound was back!!! guna take it apart and try one more time tonight. and im not going to use the shift stops. thanx for the input.

ok i found the problem. you are going to think im crazy, but its the shift ****. i took it all apart and checked every thing. took it around the block and no noise.( no console, just the boot over the top) so i install the console and everything. and the noise came back. so as im driving home i start to unscrew the shift **** cuz im got to take every thing back out, as soon as i got the **** off no noise! the one that i had on was the b&m short leather one. i tryed the stock one and it still had the same noise. im lost..

shift ****= noise
no shift ****= no noise

btw i smoked an old guy in a 2002 mustang gt today...
he started it
