strange (to me) cooling issue

Hi guys,

I've got a 1998 z28 w/a lid and exhaust and the tb bypass mod (done by the previous owner). My radiator cap never gets hot, nor does the tubing coming from it. After driving 20 miles from work tonight I checked it and opened it up without a hint of pressure. My coolant level is full (checking the reservoir) and the car does not overheat. It always runs around 210 when idling. I have an intermittent low cooling light (comes and goes, level is always fine according to reservior) What gives?

The coolant level sensors are so junky and troublesome that in 2000 GM quit putting them on.
You can do one of 3 things:
pull the sensor and clean it, it might work for a while longer
pull the sensor and replace it, about $30-40
or you can ignore the light and check your coolant level periodically like us with no sensor
