Stock plugs

Just wondering how long you should wait to switch out the stock plugs. Im at 34k miles right now. Is that something I need to worry about in the near future? Another question, the car has been getting regular oil in it, I was thinking about switching to Mobil 1 Syn., would that be advisable at this time?

switching oil should not be a problem..

the plugs i thought, were rated at 100,000 miles.. Unless you are having some ignition issues, i dont see why you would need to change them.

I got 45,000 on my stock plugs and absolutely no problems of any kind yet. I will probably change them at about 50,000 just to be safe.

No ignition problems here, I just wasnt sure if the plugs would really last 100,000 miles. Thats just so many!

I know what you mean. I would think 100,000 would be way over for anything. The coolant is supposed to be a 100,000 wonder too but i change it every spring. Hell it dont cost but a few $$$ and I run about a 90% mix of water to coolant anyway. As long as you run a premium 93 gas and maybe something like 100 octane racing fuel occasionally to clean and condition the injectors your plugs should burn fine for thousands of more miles. I still say about 50,000 would be a good time to change them.

Mobil 1 synthetic is like 5 a quart, i just bought 1 to top of the level for now, soon i will change it all over to syn. but mobil is unuiqe, it can be used with conventional oils, i never thought they could be mixed, but thats what the label says so.. lol

The factory ac plugs last a long time. I pulled them from my wifes '97 gtp last summer and decided not to change them as they only needed a slight gap adjustment.
However, having aluminum heads is a different story. If you wait too long to change they will be a real pig to remove. I plan on removing mine after 3 years, inspecting, and hopefully a regap and reinstall with a copper based anti seize lube on the threads.

I personanlly would never go anywhere near 100k on the stock plugs. I have now ngk-tr55's and will probably change them every summer. I dont see how any plug can last 100k. My dad bought a tahoe in 97 that came with the advertised 100k plugs, he went that long in them but they were fried. There was a difinte difference when we put in the new ones.

well, I will prolly go at least 75K before I look at them.

I have a bit of faith in some products. I have seen bosch plats go at least 50K with no wear visible.

I wouldnt change my coolant unless i really needed to cause there is no reason it shouldnt last the 100K..

Oils can be mixed but it isnt best when you are trying to get the benefits from one..

this is odd, cuz i've read other threads where everyone trashes the stock plugs saying when they checked the gap they were off.
a friend showed me how to change them to ngk's w/msd wires.
i feel better even tho i honestly can't feel any difference

guess it'd be good to change them early so they don't become a bitch to take out.
