Corvettes can shift at 62 I think ....f-bods are limited to 5800k . So if he is stock he wont be able to shift past that . But shifting a 54 will definitly take away from his potential times .

Not true. The factory rev limiter is set at ~6200 RPM or so for F-bodies as well. I know 'cause I've hit it before! ('til I raised it up with the Hypertech to about ~6400 RPM). Even my buddy with an LT1 M6 shifts at about ~6000 RPM at the track.

my A4 stock 02 Z28 went 13.8 at 99.9 with a 2.02 sixty foot on et streets (26x11.5x16) only mods are flowmaster muffler and 3.73 gears...

elevation 1744 sucky weather (hot/humid) the density altitude is around 3000 to 3500...
If you are runnin these times with these cars theres something seriously wrong....i have a 2000 ws6 m6 and run 12.9 with a tire, and the cars all stock except for cutout

F-Bods Do not go to 6200 RPM stock...Period......I know this for a fact . If your car says " 6200 RPM's" when you wind it up to that , either 1: it has some kind of tuning 2: The RPM gauge is wrong . Find a GM tech site and find out for your self . Thats one reason why people buy hypertech . The stock setting is like 5800 or 5900 Bye default . Just the facts man .

I shift at 6,000. I have never seen my car hit 6,200. My bone stock 99 M6 went 13.54 at 105 with a 2.00 60' time on street tires. I am good at launching the car, but I just can't seem to break into the 1.9's with the street tires. I just picked up a set of well broken in Nitto drag radials, so we'll see. I should be able to go 13.30-13.20's with those. Weather permitting I am going next Wednesday. I will let you know how it goes. Could be the night the clutch finally breathes it's last breath (its tired).

How fast are you shifting ? With that kind of 60 Id think your car would be already running 13.30's or so . Stock ? With drag radials you may Hit 13.0's . Good luck .

Re: Stock LS1 M6 1/4 mi times

I want to see time slips! I go the track a few times a year and I'm not the only LS1 on the track. I've never seen a stock LS1 hit into the 12's! I know it's a lot to do with the driver, but I know guys that have been racing for years driving Fbods and still pulling mid 13's all day long. Does anybody have slip to back up these times?

Stock rev limiter is 6200.

Mine went 13.41 @ 109.46 on a 2.31 60'. 01 WS6 M6 stock. I need to get back to the track some day. Thats the only run I had in the car.

I think I am shifting pretty darn fast. Maybe I suck, but I think I am really good at banging the gears on the T-56. After hearing all the other times on here, I am a little disappointed with my time as well. I am pulling a better 60' than most, but I am slower than most. I guess when I go Wednesday I will play around with shiftpoints, and make sure I am shifting fast. I would love to hit 13.0's, but I don't think it is a reality with the tired clutch. I only made 3 passes with my old BFG drag radials, but I was not impressed. Hopefully these Nitto's will be better, at least they feel better on the street! We'll see. Thanks for the good luck wishes, I am afraid of breaking something if I hook up real good,

Re: Stock LS1 M6 1/4 mi times

I dont think stock limiter hits at 6200 because it seems like if i dont shift right at 6000 the rev limiter kicks in.....so to me it seems like about 5900-6000. There is for sure no way i could hit 6200.

The tach lags behind actual rpm. Thats why shift lights are so popular.

nope there is nothing wrong with the cars, the run slower due to the weather and altitude

Well , I can tell ya I have never pulled a 2.0 sixty so yeah...your pulling pretty good sixties. But somethings not right . Could be the clutch . Youd be amazed at how much time you can lose with a crapy clutch. The HP will just slip away .

Exactly! The rev limiter is truly set @ 6200 RPM (the Hypertech can raise or lower it from 6200) but due to the lag in the tach, then when you actually SEE 6200, it's too late, because the motor is ACTUALLY revving higher than that (and thus, the rev limiter is kicking in). Fine, with an automatic the stock shift points are set at about ~5800 RPM, but if I shift the car manually (before adjusting with the Hypertech) then I could hold the shifts out beyond 6000 RPM.

And for any dis-believers that a stock LS1 can't do a 12.xxx, maybe I haven't actually seen it either, but I don't doubt it. Look at my 1/4 mile times (with 2.73's or now 4.10's).....the times w/2.73's were on crappy tires, vs. with the 4.10's now, I've got tires that hook really well. SO, the power is getting put to the ground. If my car were an M6, which uses less engine power, then I'd probably be able to get my car to hit a 12.xxx AS LONG AS I COULD SHIFT!
