Stock cats with hooker headers?

Is it possible to use your stock cats with hooker headers and just have my shop fabricate a y-pipe? I'm on one hell of a budget here and if I could do that I can actually afford to get headers. Thanks for your time all.

I haven't heard of anyone doing that with the Hookers, only with some other full lengths, but it would take a custom job at an exhaust shop. I'd be inclined to get a shop to give you an opinion.

The shop I go to does good work but they aren't that intelligent. I just tell them what to do and they do it. And they give me really cheap prices cause they like me. I guess I'll crawl under my car and see what can be done. I just wonder if they flow well enough or will cause problems with the 02 sensors.

Question

I guess it could be done but it would be ghetto rigged. You have Hookers 3" collector trying to go into a 2.5" cat. I have no clue why you'd want to do that because then that area would be restrictive & what would be the point of getting LT headers?!

The stock cats flow very nice for there size. Hardly any aftermarket one can touch them (based on tests), unless it is bigger.

But going froom 3" to 2.5" will be a bit of a bottle neck, regardless of how good the stock cats are. The Hookers really aren't meant for cats (if I recall).

it will be a bottle neck dropping down to the 2.5", but i dont think there is many cars on this website that NEED a full 3" coming off each collector.
i ran 2.5" into my 4" mufflex....
i would imagine you could run 2 passenger side cats if you have the room to mount them. (good luck there)

I just looked at the stock cats and possibly I could cut and opening to fit 3" as long as it doesn't ruin it's ability to pass the sniffer test. If nothing else then just order 3" cats. I'm on a budget and ghetto rigging is my middle name At least till I graduate and can afford quality work
