stock 01 ss with loudmouth

First off im sorry for a loudmouth thread. I saw how many there were.

I heard you should not do loudmouth with headers. The SS has headers stock so will this be too loud? or does anyone have this setup? basically looking for any info on loudmouth on stock 01-02 SS. thanks.

you CAN do loudmouth with headers, as long as you KEEP the cats.

it will sound nice.

My understanding is that 01-02SS's did not come with factory headers, however their exhaust manifolds flow better than the 98-00's exhaust manifolds, so I'm assuming that is what you're referring to? I could be wrong, however I have an 01SS, factory exhaust manifolds, and they are definitely not shorty headers, or any type of headers...

uh, what he said... Our manifilds may sorta look like half-assed headers from the top, but they are no means headers.

The double wall manifolds were available 98-99 but wer replaced by high flow cast pieces in 00-02. Neither are enough to make a loudmouth sound different.

I think it's 98/99's with the tubular headers and the 00-02 with the "hi-flow" manifolds....

Some people live in areas where sound enforcement is just common courtesy.

Nope... too poppy. Since it's cold out, I only run each gear to 2K rpm so it won't pop when I shift. I have a friend with long tubes, no cats, and a loudmouth. WOT sounds like a NASCAR or just some nutty race car. It's unbearble and sounds like a POS glasspacked truck just driving around, and even giving it some pipe. Bleh.

Stick with cats with the Loudmouth.

Nah just replace the resonator with a Dynomax bullet when you dump the cats. Sounds awesome.
