Dynomouth
Dynomouth
I hear of people putting these dynomouth mufflers on the loudmouth. What do they sound like on the stock pipes and does anyone have a link to them? Got to listen to the magnaflows tonight and very disappointed after all the rave I have heard here. They sound like ***t
I have the Dynomouth installed on my 01 SS. It's basically the loudmouth system w/ the 18" Dynomax muffler welded in place of the resonator.
I've gotten a ton of compliments on the exhaust since I put it on. It's got a little drone on the highway (going up hill @ low RPM's) but other than that, it's awesome. At WOT, it stil screams. I've had the SLP TOTL on my car before, & this one is the perfect combination of loud, but livable.
PS> This is w/ stock manifolds, stock Y-Pipe, & the ceter-mount exhaust tips. Sorry, no sound clips.

No sound byte for you but I highly recommend the Dynomouth in stock pipes. The stock pipes are 2.75" mandrel press and stainless steel so they flow plenty well. The bullet muffler in the I-pipe give the LS1 a deep rumble at idle, loud sound while accelerating and screams at WOT.
It's basically the loudmouth turned down a notch to keep under cops noise radar and minus all the rasp and drone. It sounds awesome, flows 2200 cmf (same as LM resinator) and costs considerably less if you reuse your existing tips.
I say just go for it. I did and it was the best $150 I have spent on my car so far.
Good Luck

You bet. go to this site and select exhaust, then mufflers, then dynomax magnum race bullet mufflers.
The one you want is P/N 289-24222. That is the 12" bullet muffler and what I have. If you have headers or just want a tad quieter for any reason then get the 18" bullet P/N 289-24219.
Good Luck

I'm running the Loudmouth with the 18" Dynomax bullet and SLP Y-pipe. It's actually pretty quiet at idle and under 1800 rpms.
As was already said, it can drone up hills or when bogged at low rpm but that's about it. Last but not least it is VERY deep in sound with no rasp and moderately loud.
If you're even remotely concerned about sound go with the 18" bullet just to be safe.

ok at that price going to place an order for the dynomax race muffler tomorrow. I'm taking your word for it that it's almost as loud as the loudmouth. One more question, all the mufflers have 1 inlet 2 outlets -
How does this one go on???

1dream,
I wouldn't do this yourself. It's not worth it when you can get a muffler shop to do it all for you in less then an hour for $100.
You buy the bullet muffler and bring it to a muffler shop that'll do this for a reasonable price (I paid 100). Tell them to remove your stock muffler and fab pipes in it's place (they supply the pipes). This is just so you can keep the dual out exhaust continuity.
Now you tell them to install the bullet muffler in your I-pipe just behind the rear axel. They will cut out a section of the pipe just in front of your rear tire axel and install the bullet.
You will LOVE the sound. Loud and mean with no rasp. It's no less then spectacular the first time you hear it. It pops a little when decelerating when it's cold but other then that it's perfect.
I'll try to find a link for you to see a diagram you can print and bring to the shop.

Here is the website for the guy that talked me into the Dynomouth. Go to page 2 of his site and it explains the dynomouth in great detail and gives you that diagram you can print out and bring with you to a muffler shop.

Good Luck and enjoy!!!
P.S. I think he has a sound clip on his website too but trust me that sound clips do not do this setup justice. They sound good on the internet but great up close and personal.

If you like the stock tips then all you need to bring the muffler shop (if you use one) is the bullet muffler. However if you prefer a different style tip on your exhaust then now is a great time to order them as well because the muffler shop may not charge you any extra to swap your exhaust tips while they are fabbing the pipes where the muffler used to be.
Good Luck
