Starting ???'s

I have a 2001 Z28 and if the car sits for maybe 2 or more days when I go to start it in the cold morning there is a 2 or 3 second delay before the starter engages and the car starts but after that it starts fine is this normal or what and will 5W-20 motor oil work in a LS1 engine I know it calls for 5W-30 just curious?THANKS

So you turn the key, hold it on the start position, and nothing happens for a few seconds then all the sudden the starter starts to turn the engine over? Or does the engine actually turn over and it takes a few seconds to start?

First thing I'd check is the battery terminals for corrosion, if that looks good have the battery load tested. Could be something else, but start with the simple stuff.

Definitely, for some reason side post battery terminals get corroded very quickly. Make sure you take them all the way out, if it's full of green/white powder then that might be your problem

Sticky starter soleniod. If it were corroded wires or the battery it wouldn't delay like that. It would crank slow or not start at all.

You could always swap starters to see if that's the problem, if not just return it to the part store and move on.
