Starting problem on my 2000 Z28
Starting problem on my 2000 Z28
Got in the car this morning and tried to start it. It would not stay running unless i kept my foot on the gas if i let go it would stall. It had about a 1/8 of a tank of gas. I have run it down even less than that and it never did what it did today.
I left it for a couple of hours and started it and it ran fine.
What could this be?
my car is a stock 2000 Z28 A$ with 83000 miles
Thanks, Jason

Re: Starting problem on my 2000 Z28
Just a "possibility", but we had a problem like this on my Mom's Jeep Grand Cherokee, and it turned out to be the TPS (throttle position sensor). At idle, it was getting a bad reading and wouldn't keep the engine running, so you had to keep your foot into it just a little bit to keep the motor running.
Or possibly your motor flooded initially, and needed the extra air to clear it out?

Could be a vacuum leak. It could be caused by the cold. While it was warm out, a gasket may have been sealed but when the same gasket got cold, it may not be sealing correctly. Once the car is warm, the gasket is warm and expanded, thus sealing properly. I'd start by checking around the EGR tube going into the intake. It's often a source of a leak. Did you throw an SES light?
