As for the original poster's problem. Your fans shouldn't even turn on until somewhere around 200 so as long as it cools off once you're moving and it doesn't get above about 220 while sitting in traffic I think you're okay.
Yep ... my needle bounces all over the place in hot weather ... i usually run at 170 on the freeway. However, with my SSRA and I noticed different temperature behavior. It climbs quicker in hot weather and falls slower after I flip the flans on regardless of where I am, but most noticable during city driving.
