True point. But not everyone knows what to look for between a Z06 and a regular C5. Probably most people on this board know what to look for, but there are some who don't. How does anyone know if a C5 is stock? Just like you don't know the F-body is stock. Unless they have a cam or aftermarket exhaust, one won't know till you race or ask the driver

Back to the Original topic, the guy was considering selling his SS and buying a C5.

There are many pros and cons.

I have a 2000 SS M6 and my brother has a 99' C5 M6 hardtop.

Despite the fact that we have the same motor and tranny and aside from different cams and a few other specs, My Brothers car has a totally different feel.
It's much tighter, rides lower, has more low end response (to me.) WAY less body roll. We've never raced but we have driven fast together on windy roads, occasionally opening our cars up...and he definitely pulls away from me. Maybe it's due to the fact that he has a Borla catback, hurst shifter and Z06 airlid...I do know that the hardtop's are a little lighter than the C5 coupe.

Another cool thing is you can find used C5's for pretty cheap too. my brother found his for 20k with 43,000 miles on it.

My friend has a stock 01 c5 6 speed, and I have a 00SS. When we used to run when we were both stock, it was a driver's race every time. Funny how heads, lt's, oryp, intake, and gears will change all of that.
