Squealing

alright guys... ive searched the forums up and down and cant find exactly the same thing. When i turn my car on, its fine, but after im driving it for a while, or if I accelerate too quickly, it starts squealing really bad. At first i thought it was the water pump, but i dont know if that is it. Possibly a belt? Doesnt seem really bad, just annoying. Im in a 99 auto z28. thx a lot!

Re: Squealing

It is most likely a belt. You said when you accell too quickly. When you accel, the accessory belt spins super fast and then when you get off, it is forced to slip because the engine slows down a lot faster than the accessories. I heard good things about gatorback belts in that they dont squeak.

It is also possible that your tires are out of alignment or you have unidirectionals and they are backwards.

Re: Squealing

It could be just the belt, but it could also be your tensioner getting weak.

Re: Squealing

Should be very easy to replace the belt and/or tensioner.
