Squeaking belt tensioner

It seems like my belt tensioner pulley is squeaking, it goes away after a while but at start up its really bad. Anyone else have this happen, and any suggestions?

Re: Squeaking belt tensioner

I have the same problem @ 65K miles. I replaced the belts, but that didn't solve it. So, I'll be snagging a tensioner at some point.

Make sure it is the tensioner. I thought I had a bad belt(tweet-tweet), but it was my alt w/ bad barrings.

I have the same problem. It does not do it all the time, kind of odd. I guess she only acts up when she is mad at me. I know they sell an aftermarket one, I believe at thunderracing.com.

Aftermarket: http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=3&pcid=113

The OEM is $73 list price from the dealership. GMPartsDirect.com has them for around $55 shipped.

Re: Squeaking belt tensioner

I just bought one of the TR ones. They are REAL nice, fully adjustable. They dont come with the pulley, you just reuse yours. That's not what's squeaking anyway. Install takes about 15 mins max.
