Spraying out of the hole.....again

I couldn't decide if this was suppose to be in the nitrous thread or the ls1 thread. Sorry to the mods if I'm wrong.

any hoo

Car set up:

cam only and some bolt ons ls1

cam specs: 224/23* .66* intake .63* exhaust 117 lsa.

ls7 clutch, denny's nitrous ready driveshaft, moser 9", detroit locker, 4.30's.

Pretty much every suspension part except tubular upper and lower a arms.

skinnies and m/t 26/10.5/15 et drags in the back, launching probably around the 5500 area (gotta wait to get it at the track to figure out exactly where)

I already have tr6's in the car, already have a nitrous kit... just need to get timing tuner to retard the timing a bit.

but spraying out of the hole.... discuss please.

Who specced the cam? It's a little odd.

Small duration, extremely high lift, all topped off with a 117 LSA?

Anyway, like I said before, the LS7 clutch isn't going to work like that for starters. Secondly, you need to start small and see how she hooks. You may end up blowing the tires away.

the cam is actually an experimental cam from lingenfelter that my performance shop got. it was first used in a 4.8 in a camaro to see how a 4.8 would run in an f-body... which it did fairly well.

I was going to run a trex cam instead in my car, but the main performance guy at my performance shop (which is very reputable) said the cam is a lot better than the trex.

I'm about to purchase new tires anyways... the et drags annoy me b/c I can't run them on the street and was thinking of getting a set of 27/10.5/15 m/t streets, b/c I think I'd run out of gear if I sprayed it.

as far as the ls7 clutch goes, I've seen/heard different things about it. a guy i know runs one in his sprayed trex'd ss, and it has out lasted his aluminum driveshaft.

Cool

N/A I say use the 26" tall tires. Spraying, you need to get a taller tire or you will run out of gear at the top end. Unless you want to grab 5th i guess... For tires, QTP's are a popular choice with the Impala crowd, but I'm not well versed in the tire needs of a stick shift car. Of course I run E.T. Street radials anyways, so what the hell do I know. Oh, and bring that thing back to Tennessee. You need to help get my POS running!

I'm not familiar with Nitrous cams so maybe it's an experimental cam designed for Nitrous use, if that is the case maybe for that type of application it would be better for Nitrous (again I know nothing about cams used for Nitrous)

But as far as N/A, the T-Rex will murder that Cam. Only thing that cam would give you over the T-Rex is better drivability.

Yeah..agreed. It looks like a poorly-designed cam for NA use.

yeah ok. Unless you are being featured in GM High tech performance, on powertv, and have been on pinks, i think I'm going to take my shops word on the cam, and not yours. I didnt really make this thread to get opinions on my cam, I asked about spraying out of the hole, and thought maybe I could get some useful info. Turns out I was wrong and that I should go over to ls1tech to get some real answers.
