speed limiter

has anybody ACTUALLY posted in here they have a speed limiter at 108? I mean really saw it cut out at 108mph? I have heard of the RARE occasion that a Z28 had this limiter BUT nobody to my knowledge has flat out said they witnessed this limiter.

Lots of people have posted re speed limiter. In fact all Camaros and Firebirds that came from the factory without Z rated tires have the speed limiter.I think mine was set to around 115-120mph.

Theres no way its 108mph, you must mean 118mph. My V6 Camaro has a limiter at 118mph and I have seen it. If the car came with Z rated tires the speed limiter is set at 163mph.

My '96 Z28 would cut out at 114 mph. Before the LS1s that was understood to be the set top speed imposed by the speed limiter.

I don't know why they would change it? Perhaps the variation we are seeing is due to an inaccuracy in the OEM speedometer.

P.S. I made sure to have factory Z rated tires when I purchased my '98 LS1

Replace you fuel filter and try again. Or your tach may have reached redline.

not 163.. fuel shutoff will happen when you hit 163.. probably.. but the limiter is set at 155. at least thats from what I have seen.. hehehe
Its possible the car will hit and maintain 163 in stock trim with no limiter.
