Soon to be LS1 powered, questions

I'm very close to buying a 98' SS M6 right after my Z sells. I'm curious about a cam it has in it because I can find any sound clips, or much info on it in general. It has a "tsp 228" cam as it was described, so 228/228 durations. How much power would this cam normally make of a otherwise stock motor? Also, it looks like a mild cam size, and should be streetable without issue, correct? It has a lid and dumped true duals as well.

I've been impressed with LS1 numbers when compared to the LT1. Am I reading this all correctly when I see Lt1's dynoing at 240ish and LS1's at 300ish? I didn't know there was such a big difference, maybe I am wrong though.

Last thing is that the car is untuned, after a cam swap I thought that was really important! The car runs great as is, so would a tune help out all that much? Thanks for the answers guys!

that cam with the associated bolt ons...and a tune...should yield about 380-390rwhp.

some dyno queens show more...but i think that's a good expectation.

and stock ls1s dyno in the area of 290-310rwhp typically...depends on the car, year and dyno

Yeah you should be around 380-390rwhp. But the LT1/LS1 comparison is a little biased. LT1 M6s can dyno in the 260s and LS1 M6s can dyno in the 290s. Dyno numbers are just dyno numbers, son't get hung up on them.

A tune could net you some extra ponies and make that cam very driveable.

Thanks alot for the info! I understand dyno numbers are only part of the equation of what a car can do, just a referance point for me. I hope to get this car soon
