Question Someone school me on Autotap. Why is it better then a HPP?

Heres the thing, I currently have a HPP - and its okay. I'd like to be able to play with my shift points better, and get a real data curve of what my car is doing.

I will be getting an old used laptop from work, so I will just have to buy the autotap software.....but I don't have a clue on it.

What should I get?? What does it do??

AutoTap and HPP do completely different things. AutoTap is a window into your computer, so you can monitor and record the output of many sensors. This is used to decide how to tune. The HPP changes the tuning. Most people are down on the HPP because their power tuning really only works for a stock car, and other than that all you can change is the shift points in an auto (no help to the M6 cars), fix the speedo for different wheels/gears, change the rev limiter and turn the fans on early.

LS1 Edit, while more expensive, allows you to change hundreds of settings (but you should know what you are changing).

The newest version of AutoTap comes in a version that can change a few things like the idle speed etc. I'm not sure what all though.
