What do you guys think? I dont know the intricate details of engine swapping but it should be possible right? All I know is a 6.0L 400hp engine sure sounds like the best mod I can think of.

Have fun trying to fund that one. But serioulsy that would be cool. Also you could do a couple of mods and be there your self

Im not certain but wouldnt the bigger dispacement of the LS2 make it respond better to mods also?

um...maybe...but realize...

a 6.0L engine is only a 366ci displacement...not a huge jump

for the cost of the LS2...why not bore/stroke and cam/heads to a 383 LS1....you'd be well over 400hp with a mild cam and for probably $5,000 total

don't think it would be worth it.

i'm sure the same thing was said by the LT1 guys when the LS1 came out

Because all that is putting stress on an engine that wasnt meant to take it. And I'd probably get a warranty with the LS2. Not that turning a 346 to a 383 hasnt crossed my mind...

If you've got some money to throw around just get a c5r block and build a 427. That will really show some gains.

You definately will NOT be able to justify spending the money to get a brand new engine, when you can make yours soooo much better.

You wouldn't want to mod it, you'd be putting stress on an engine that wasn't designed to take it. (sorry, couldn't help myself).

For the few cubic inches difference, I'd just "fix" your LS1. I'm sure it will be cheaper and the LS1 is a rather stout motor to begin with.

If you want a new engine, just get the LS6. That block outperforms the LS2 by the indicated 5 horses and it produces better torque. It will cost a lot less, and will fit right in and GM parts direct sells them with the Camaro oil pan.

But the LS1 isn't backwards compatible with the LT1. Everything I've read about the LS2 indicates the heads & intake will drop right on to a LS1/LS6 shortblock. I wouldn't pay that much money for a factory longblock.

Wait until you see some dyno sheets of the LS2 before saying that, especially the torque curve.

As far as the LS2 goes...supposedly it's heads flow as well as (if not better than) the LS6s, it has higher compression, and more displacement. Kinda makes you wonder why it's rated 5hp less than the LS6.

I wish

I wonder if it has the Z06 intake or if they switched to a new design...

Bet it has lesser flowing heads and a tamer cam than the Z06 to bring it back down to 400

or maybe the LS6 heads and a really tame cam

dangit we want more displacement than that

should have made it a short stroke, big-bore 6.4-6.6L with DoD

guess in 5 years.....

I personally will just get some good flowing heads and a cam instead

If I were to run across a good deal on a 6L block or short block (even better) I would almost be obligated to do it, though (4" stroke here I come)

the ls2 intake fits a 90mm TB to it (competition to the LSX intake). the ls2 heads are just ported ls6 heads. so, you could just swap the intake and TB only. also the 6.0L is all aluminum and weighs 15lbs less than the 5.7L motor. 3 valve heads are coming later. it'll be called the ls7.

sweet I was thinking they would never start using more than 2 valves/cyl

I wonder what those heads would flow?.....270-290 stock? what do you guys think?
