So my '01 has 274 HP.....
The PCV system on your car is most likley the culprit for your oil consumption. I don't know why, but LS-1's are horrible about sucking oil into the PCV, which in turn ingests it into your intake manifold, thus placing oil into your incoming air mixture. This will inded cause a large drop in HP. If GM will do the compression check, go ahead and let them do it. I'm sure you will be delited to find that there will probablly be nothing wrong there. Most people with this problem install a "catch can" in the PCV line. The oil will fall into the can instead of flowing into your intake. For the meantime, I would let the dealership deal with it. You could end up with a new shortblock out of the deal.
The girl that had 3 bad coil packs didn't know it until she got her dyno results, so I would guess that if there is a coil pack messing up you may not necessarily notice it. In regards to the PCV fix, I think there is a write up on LS1.com or LS1tech.com on how to 'remedy' it as mentioned.

Go to autozone and they got a scanner that reads all the codes that your car is putting out. If there is a bad coil it should be coming up on that. You could also ask the dealership to do the same thing.
Good luck

Make GM Re-ring the motor under warranty. You have the right, if it consumes too much. They will do the consumption test, basically changing the oil and you bring it back to see how much oil it has consumed.
I bet your car will have perfect compression and the coil packs are probably fine. Your sucking oil in the motor and burning it becaue of the rings. You can have excessive carbon build up because of this as well as a drop in power. Dont worry about dyno numbers get the oil consumption problem resolved.
Excessive Oil consumption is not good, get this fixed first and go from there. This is your problem. Tell the dealer that it's consuming oil badly and there is a service bulletin about it. They probably dont want to fix it, but they have to (as long as you are under warranty) if you follow the correct steps. Make them do the consumption test and if it fails, then they owe you a rering.
My Z06 vette ate oil like a pig. My 01 SS doesn't use a drop now because the motor was redone.

I know the mechanic is gonna say that consuming oil is common, and this is just an extreme case of it....
I should respond by saying:.......
Are these cars known to have bad rings, and that causes the oil problems?

Change your plugs. My 99 A4 dynoed 274 stock and ran 13.80 @ 100 mph. I changed the plugs to NGK TR55 (Part # 3951) and the car went 13.5s @ 103.5. (figure a gain of about 25-30rwhp) The factory plugs were ate up with on 5K on the clock. The gaps were over .070. Here is a link to my stock dyno vs modded (lid/filter, ported tb and MAF and MAC headers):

The resulting time slips are at the bottom from the above mods and a converter plus a cutout.
