If you think thats impressive you should hear some of the deals I've gotten. Mac headers w/Carsound catted Y for $350 installed. Shaner ported Tbody for $50, Cam for $80, Borla for $250, Mufflex 4" for $150, Pro 5.0 for $60, K&N FIPK2 for stock lid and $50 and I sold my aftermarket lid for $50 which is what I bought it for several years before, 2 BFG KD for $205. BTW, my LS6 intake was $300 also.

The deals are out there. You just have to look and be in the right place at the right time.

all lids are more or less the same. the SLP one is taller and i have seen it hit the inside of the hood on some cars, most clear the hood without problem. most of them warp slightly over time, but if you use it with the weather seal that it comes with then you wont have a problem.

when you get the lid get the K&N drop in filter and do the "free ram air" mod to complete the effect. without those you wont see much gain, and with those you still wont feel the gain, but itll be evident on the dyno and at the track.

I got my LS6 Int on eBay for $350 used off an 04 Vette. NICE Gains!!!

Mine rubs in the underside of my fiberglass hood. Nothing a file wouldn't fix, I just filed down the under side of the hood at that spot.. Not really noticable.

The next mod after that would be the LS6 intake manifold. For $300 to $350 you can get decent gains.
another good second mod is to go to a junkyard and find a 4cyl 5 speed s10 and rob the gears usaly 373s you can usaly get by without an install kit if you know how to set up rearends.

they make two models of the slp lid now. its not suppose to rub in the gm high tech magazine they did a test between the seven lids and the slp got the most time gain at the track i think it was just a lid and a cat back o1 camaro, and it went 12.94 where the other lids averaged 13.1ish

I'd do a catback before an LS6 intake. Magnaflow is a good choice for the money.

As far as a lid, typical gains are 10+ horsepower. At <$100, that's better than $10/horsepower. As a general rule of thumb, if you have an opportunity to add horsepower for less than $10/per, do it.

A lid is worth it. I noticed better throttle response and my mpg was about 1 mpg better when at highway speeds. It is my first and so far (until I get my exhaust this spring) my only mod.
