So the auto headlights pissed me off to no end tonight!

Went to a drive in move. It started raining and the windows were fogging up. Nice. REAL FARKING NICE GM! I can't turn ont he car to run the defrost because the headlights come on automatically. Nice to know they want the car to think for us. So I had to wipe the damn windshield off every 5 minutes throughout the movie.

If I pull the blue harness on the module behind the radio will that kill the auto headlights? I sure as hell hope so. I tried pulling the parking brake up one click and that made NO difference. headlights stayed on.

you have to pull the e brake up before you start the car,but don't drive it that way because it disables the airbags

Yes all you have to do is put the e-brake on and start the car and the lights will be off.

GM must have got enough complaints b/c on the 2004 Grand Prix they can be turned off.

What they said.

If you don't like setting the E-brake because it could cause rotor warpage. Just pull it up slightly until the auto-lights are disabled. However if they come back on shut the engine off and pull up a little more then turn it back on again. Eventually you will find the spot that keeps the lights from turning on, but doesn't press on the rotors (too much).

Thumbs up

^^^what she said^^^ .

I didn't go through the trouble of disabling the DRL's, but I disabled the auto-headlights, and it's probably one of the best things I ever did! (I think I disabled them about 2 weeks after I had the car! ). All I did was cut the 2 wires going to the light sensor in the dash, and spliced them together..........quick, simple, and now the OFF position on the light switch truly means OFF!

wouldn't it have been almost as easy to wire a switch to disconnect the sensor. With Ford it works that way, auto most of the time, but it can be turned off through the dimmer.

Yeah, but that would only apply on public streets, not on private property - aka, drive-in theatre.
