SLP lid not fitting correctly?

Sorry if this has been gone over before.

I bought one of these because it was cheap (it was one of the ones produced with the minor blemish,) after most people said that most lids are similar.

The thing is, it doesn't seem to fit correctly. When the four flaps on the back are pushed into the slots and the lid is clamped down with the two clips in front, it'll only stay for a short time. The lid will move forward out of the slots, and pop one of the clips. There's a K&N filter in there, but I doubt that would make a difference. It's starting to get irritating.

Is it normal, and is there any way to help fix it? If it's going to keep doing it, I'm considering just junking it, taking the loss, and buying a better one.

mine did the same thing until I pushed the front of the lid in behind the mount on the bottom. I was pissed when I did it, and it worked. Clipped it down, and haven' had a problem since. The lid has conformed to that way now.

I think that they are cheesy flemsy plastic, that is cheeply made. But has SLP stamped in it.

I have a K&N in mine, and intalled the same SLP lid yesterday myself. Make sure that when you have the 4 tabs in the lid it is pushed back as far as it should go. You'll feel it fall into place. Thats about as simple as I can explain it. Once its in place then put the metal clips back on.

I bought one on those "minor blemish" SLP lids the other day, I hope I don't have any problems.

How bad is the blemish?? is it very noticeable?

Them blemish is nothing. Its a small dot on the upper left of the lid. Its smaller than a dime. Unless your car is a show car, dont worry about it, you cant even notice it.

Yeah, the blemish isn't noticeable to most people unless it's pointed out.

I tried the aforementioned advice few times. I'm pretty sure I've got it in there like it should be now. Just have to wait a day or two to see if it stays in place.

It should stay. I checked mine tonight when I got home from work and it hadn't budged at all. I figure if it was going to move it would do it on the way to or from work(100 mile drive). Drive around for a bit then check it. You should be square.

If you have the all the tabs pushed in,and the front bottom edge of lid in the narrow channel @ front of the air box that is the correct way. The air box front wall between the clips has a channel/groove/slot in it... thats where front bottom edge of lid sets into. Then clip it.

Two good drives later, and it hasn't moved. Looks like I'm in the clear.

I appreciate the help.
