SLP level 1 kit on a vert ???

70001A Suspension Kit, (Level One) w/Reinforced Arms 1993-02 F-Car

Well, that's the info from SLPs web site, was wondering if anyone has tried it out?

Tried it out on a convertible?? What were the differences??

I've already got KBDD subframes, an STB and a roll bar, but I still get some unwanted movement in the front area, mostly at higher speeds, am thinking it is in the stock shocks which may not be quite up to the job.

Any thoughts??

That feeling is probably the loose valving in the stock shocks, the level 1 is defiently the best package out there for the price. If your looking for an all out suspension than I wouldn't really go with the level 1 but if your looking for a nice improvement over the stock equipment, go for it.

Re: SLP level 1 kit on a vert ???

I would recommend the 70001 kit over the 70001A kit as the boxed arms do nothing for you, and poly bushings are problematic (suspension binding).

I think of the 70001 kit as a nice package that the average person will probably be happy with.

The springs will not lower your car compared to the factory springs (which have settled over time), but they will have slightly higher rates.

From your sig why would you not consider the QA1/HAL shocks?

If you still have stock shocks in your 95, they are most definantly beyond dead now.

I'd get a set of good shocks.. i got revalved shocks of Bilstiens HD's from Strano..

The kit would be going on an 01 vert, I was hoping for some lowering, I think there is too big a gap between the fender and the tire on the LS-1 car.

Yup, yer right, the shocks in the 95 are dead ... but they let the front end rise up when you get on the gas ...

Why revalved Bilstiens?? why not just off the rack Bilstiens?? or am I missing something?

thx for the replies

If your car is an 01 then your springs probably aren't sagging and you'll see about a 1/2-1 inch drop from the springs. The reason someone would have there shocks revalved is if they where looking for more perfromance out of it. The slp bilstiens aren't as harsh as the hd bilstiens because they're still ment to be streetable(comfortable) so some people have the revalved for more of a perfomance setup rathen than a nice coushy ride. However the slp bilstiens are still much better than stock.

The springs do give some drop, but it drops the rear more than the front in most cases. Look for guys with the Level 1 kit or the Y2Y Bilstein suspension (same springs) and you'll see a nose-up look. There are those of us out there that knew that going into the install and cut the front springs. I cut about 2/3 of a coil from the fronts and I got the car level. We'll see how things settle out once the car comes out of winter strorage.

Before/after pics in sig, initial drop was 0.5"/1.0" F/R for an even 27" ground to top of fenderwell gap all around.

A lot of what else has been said is very good information. I didn't go for the reinforced parts because I shy away from poly bushings. It really is a great kit for the money - I paid less than $600 shipped for mine and sold the stock shocks, springs, and LCA's for a total of $140. Not a bad upgrade for just over $450 and a weekend in the garage.

The SLP Level 1 lowered my T/A about 3/4" to 1". It was installed when the car had 2900 miles, so I do not think sagging was a problem.
